Welcome to Afghan Relief’s Orphan Care Program
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself was an orphan and emphasized the importance of taking care of orphans. In a country where decades of conflict has left many children without parents, Afghan Relief’s Orphan Care Program aims to provide these young souls with a chance at a brighter, more stable future.
The Reality of Orphanhood in Afghanistan
**Over 2 million orphans**:
Conflict and disease have left a vast number of children without parental care.
**Lack of access to education and healthcare**:
Many orphans miss out on basic rights.
These numbers are a stark reminder of the work that needs to be done.
Why Orphan Care?
Taking care of orphans is not just a moral duty but also an Islamic obligation. Our program aligns with the Hadith, aiming to provide holistic care for orphans that goes beyond mere survival needs.
Our Projects
Educational Scholarships
We offer educational scholarships to orphans, ensuring they have the chance to gain vital skills and knowledge.
Healthcare Access
Regular medical check-ups, vaccinations, and nutritional supplements are provided to ensure physical well-being.
Vocational Training: Skill Development
Older orphans are given vocational training to prepare them for independence and employment.
Psychological Support
Counselors and mentors provide emotional and psychological support to help children deal with the trauma of loss.
Housing and Daily Care
We partner with reliable orphanages and also support family-based care for orphans within their extended families.
Winter Project: Coat Distribution
During the cold winter months there are so many young children forced to work in the streets without coats. Afghan Relief’s Winter Project distributes coats to thousands of orphans and children on the street.
Vocational Training
Vocational training courses in trades focused on orphans. These sewing training, carpentry, electronic repair, phone repair, graphic design and computer programming.
Economic Empowerment
We offer vocational training, microloans, and small business grants to enable orphans to become economically independent. Some of these empowerment projects including push-carts, establishing shops.
